Getting Along

Second Life is much like real life in many aspects. We have to deal with others. Sometimes you get along, sometimes you don't. People get on your nerves. Personalities conflict.  Sometimes you wish she would just shut the fuck up. Sometimes you wish he would grow a pair and quit whining. If it lasts long enough, you wish they would just LEAVE so you don't have to deal with them anymore. Unfortunately that isn't always the case and you just have to deal with it.  I try to just avoid others that get on my nerves or I vent to my friends so I can get it off my chest without hurting someone's feelings.

Recently I have been exposed to a new kind of conflict. Some of the royals, old and new, have been shirking their duties. Being just plain lazy. Indifferent. At first I thought it was just me with my new real life stresses of going back to school, more pressure, full moon, or PMS. Maybe those things might make a particular time more stressful but the overall problem has been there. And is growing worse. Those of us who do as we are asked and take our role seriously are becoming more and more bitter towards those that don't do a damn thing. It is not too much to ask to teach one class a week or hold one event a week. We used to help each other. I have noticed no one is stepping up. Our Queen is at her wits end begging for the individuals to just put in a note card on time or respond to her request in a timely manner.  I promise you, it isn't difficult. And if they were having a hard time that week, let us know! Communication is key!

My patience is wearing thin. I am getting snappy, stabby, outright rude sometimes because I am so fed up with it all.  I don't want to be like this. I have always looked for the positive in others and tried to be the light in any given situation. What happened to the awesome, easy going, FUN clan we had? What changed it all? With the huge influx of new royals I think perhaps it is too easy to become a royal anymore. It's a given. Some just want the title for status rather than to actually help which is what it is really about. Some of the higher position people have been there forever, sitting on their laurels, and the lower ones have no room for advancement. I am not looking for a promotion. It is just frustrating to do so much for the clan and watch others sit idly by doing nothing. It is not just one group, it is all of them. We have hit a plateau and morale is down. Something must change soon. I'm sure we are not the only ones to have experienced this. And we shall persevere and overcome this bump in the road. I only hope we don't lose some really incredible people in the process.
