Queen for a Week

In a quick and unexpected moment, I suddenly became acting queen. Our queen was beyond stressed in RL and SL, and decided to take a break. That break soon became permanent when she quietly left all the groups. I couldn't blame her. The stress of running the clan by herself is too much.

I evaluated priorities, held a royals meeting, and gathered monies for land tiers for another week.  Encouraging our royals to continue their duties and keep it business as usual.  I contacted the no longer active King with an updated Chain of Command and my recommendations. There was no question about it, I did not want the job and I told him so. My loyalties were there, I just did not have the time to run a clan on SL.

Two of the high royals decided to send hate notices to each other so I removed notice rights for a day. The highly anticipated auction to raise money for land tiers was cancelled. I received notecards of resignation. People were simply done. No amount of effort on my part could cure the damage that had been done. And frankly, I was done too.

After agonizing over the decision, my husband and I decided there was no saving this sinking ship. It was ugly and hateful now. There was no respect, no authority, and no remnants of the empire that once made it Divine.  The Crown Prince and I agreed to leave at the same time for various reasons. He and I conducted the clan meeting when the King did not show. Afterward, he sent out a notice of our departure. Clan chat opened up  with all kinds of questions of what was going on. One of the remaining Princes started bashing the former Queen in clan chat and it just got more and more ugly.

Rick and I had left all groups but one at that point. He named a long time knight as the Archknight. I added the former queen back to the group and she banned the Prince from the lands. He was reinstated the next day by the King. A new queen was announced (the 4th queen in a matter of 6 months). I sent the King the land tiers I had gathered. He didn't know I had left the clan. Rick and I contacted our minions is our line to let them know we were leaving. That was that.  A very very ugly end to the Camelot that was once Divine. The smoldering remains are still there with the few loyals members that are steadfast. I always felt I would be one of them, but no more.

There are no coincidences, a reason and a season for all things. I feel such a sense of relief now. I had no idea the stress that I felt in logging in each day. The best part of the whole ordeal is I no longer have to deal with that idiotic naked Yodaspeaking fairy elf prince anymore!  A new chapter has begun in our new clan with my closest friends. I look forward to sharing those adventures with you as well.
