New Home

After much searching, trial and error, measuring, and compromising I found a house. Well, more than a house. A castle. A petite castle. The Domitus Castle Petite by Parajen Homes is only 97 prims and 24x24. We still have plenty of room to build and run around in the front.
In two days time I have accidentally textured the floors and had to derez and rerez the building twice. I am aware of my dorkiness. Shush.

We decided to scare the neighbors. We rezzed my redneck trailer, Rikk's giant eyeball guy and Glory rezzed her ghetto schoolbus. We then drove all over the empty lots in the sim raising hell. No one was around so it didn't really matter. But it sure was fun! Later I rezzed my dirty public bathroom so Glory and Audrey could take turns beating the crap out of me. It was a fun night all in all. Now down to the business of decorating.

Reminiscing #5: Shove Off Scurvey Dog!

As January lingered, changes were happening within the clan. Rikk relieged to the queen when the crown princess left.  Her departure caused a delay in the promotion process. So as I waited for word whether I would be accepted I continued to attend the events and be as helpful as possible. I looked forward to dressing up for the 2PM SLT events and would log in early to find out the theme. It often took me hours to find an outfit I liked that was within my budget.
The infamous photo of Queen Amethyst and me in bed!!

I loved the new sim. Crown Island was bigger. I loved the club being located in a chapel. The Courtyard was larger with room to dance, run around, and had nice little seating areas here and there. The bloody water added to the ambiance. I felt a sense of freedom and belonging there that I hadn't before.

Reminiscing #4:Crown Island and the Sandbox

There was big changes in the clan during the month of January. We moved from our sim on Daligdig to Crown Island.   Princess Daisy and Duchess Rock spent days and days terraforming, building and transforming this new sim.  Plans for the one year anniversary of the clan were in order as well.

All the talk of land and moving were very exciting. Rikk began a friendship with a man named Marcio. We decided to pool our resources with him and his liege, Bella,  to buy some land. We waited and waited and waited... They were looking at several pieces of property. Meanwhile I was still living on the sandbox. Nudity was allowed so I could easily change clothes. However, I did not want to be griefed or harrassed while doing so. I would check my radar to see who was around me before I would change. I had a little spot on the edge of the sim near the water which gave me a little bit of privacy.

Very often the sim would be full and I couldn't rez a box. Or I would log into the previous visitor's mess. Like this:

One of the benefits however, was watching other people's creations being built. Rikk and I could also dream and plan about our future on SL by rezzing  the large items we had won on MM boards. Our inventories were filling up with castles, crypts, blood gazebos, and a variety of structures from the Gorean MM boards. We don't do the whole Gorean thing but they sure have some cool stuff! Like this Egyptian creation which I rezzed one night after one of our dates:

Our time together was limited and was soon to be even more diminished in the months ahead.

Land!

Interrupting the reiminscing for this very important news bulletin! Our wonderful sweet, kind, giving minions Azz, Tonee, and Maddi bought us a parcel of land tonight (July 27, 2010). I was overwhelmed and cried. It is 2048sqm and 468 prims. We shared the wonderful news with Audrey and Laini as well. I know I will be very busy the next few days/weeks setting up house! Wow. So overwhelmed!

Reminiscing #3:New Friends

The first month in the clan was a period of adjustment. I went to some events. One that stands out is the camouflage theme dance. As a noob I didn't have anything camouflage. I then started a list and asked Rikk what all the themes were so I would have something to wear. Funny! I just wanted to fit in. He replied they had lots of Neko events so I sought those out. Tapping those boards daily I built up my wardrobe without spending a penny. Candi gave me a folder of dances so I could dance. I've thanked her for doing that many times in the months since but I don't think she knows how much it meant to me. Giving me the tools to fit in.

In the months of November and December a huge influx of new members began arriving. A very pale white haired man named Ethan, his girlfriend Missy, Heaven, Lola, an odd pair of twins Laini & Gaz, Jhoram, and Phayte among others. We would sit around the fire pit and chat. I was living on a sandbox and still had no money. The lands were my sanctuary now even if I didn't completely fit in. At least the people there chatted a bit and said hello. Some even were happy to see me when I logged in. I became known for my giant red hair. They could see me coming from across the sim!

I was still very shy but I loved going to the dance events. I would use the folder of dances and try different ones out. I would dance in the very corner of the area, not even on the dance floor because I was so terribly shy. One day I was trying out a sexy dance and Jhoram IM'd me. "Kinda sexy dance for such a shy person." He teased me. I was so embarrassed. But for some reason he set me at ease. He has this calming effect on people even though he dresses like a biker and looks like a roughneck. Slowly I came out of my shell. I won a new skin at Estyle and was feeling a little more confident in my look though it wasn't exactly what I wanted yet. Heaven, Lola and some of the other girls all loved those Neko MM boards and we would call upon each other to help tap them to lock them down. A sisterhood had formed.

Reminiscing #2: Struggle and Resolve

During my first days with the clan and on Second Life in general, I struggled to find my place. A sense of belonging. I was still angry about the situation and leaving my friends on WoW. Rikk told me to hang out on the lands, get to know people. Two of the royals added me- Jimmy and Candi. Baron Christophe had guided Rikk through my turning. Now unbeknowst to me there was a huge drama in the clan during that time. They turned off clan chat completely so I was never announced or welcomed to the family. Had I been maybe things might have been different. But that was my experience so far. So I tried. I would sit near a tree on the clan lands hoping someone would beckon me over. Never happened. I slowly crept toward the landing area where most people gathered. Nope. Nothing. Finally, one night I sat for three hours saying hello to each and every person that came by. They were engaged in their own conversations on voice chat. I never felt so alone. I questioned myself as to why it was so damn important that I try to make friends with these people that didn't give a shit about this noob. Finally in my frustration I logged out crying. Pathetic, I know. The next day I left the group, left the clan and set out on my own to find other people who might have something in common with me.

I knew I wanted to be with my husband and share his interest. It's what we have always done. I set out to find something else to do on Second Life. I did a search for "pagan" and came across a lovely quiet sim where I felt at peace. I would wander the grounds, using the meditation poseballs, and think. It was always empty though. Alone again.

Rikk tried to help me and introduced me to MM boards. I joined a few MM groups and would spend my days tapping boards. I took pleasure in getting some freebies and trying to improve my avatar. In my search for freebies I found another nice sim I liked. Mermaids and pirates. Hey! I liked that idea. No one was ever around to ask about joining a group or roleplay. I explored and used the dance balls underwater. I found the gypsy camp. I loved that! But with no one around, how lonely I was.

It was fall and the sims were changing. Decorated with leaves, pumpkins, and the like. One day I found myself at Sacred Cauldron. Another lovely, peaceful sim. I changed into a autumn fairy outfit I had won on an MM board and began taking snapshots. My dear friend, Teresa, from Runescape would love it here! Maybe if I send the photos to her email she would want to join and play with me. I got in touch with her to see how she was doing, etc. She was too busy with school to play so I never bothered sending them. Rikk was hoping I would find something that caught my interest or made me happy. I asked him about being a pirate but he was only mildly interested. "Please leave those damn vampires! They are dark and evil and against everything I stand for!" I thought to myself.

Reminiscing #1: How I Started Out

Once upon a time my husband, Rikk Steamweaver, took a computer course in college that required him to create a Second Life account. He and I both played a few hours, were extremely bored and resumed our online playing to World of Warcraft. We were guild leaders on WoW and loved every minute of it for 4 years. We were incredibly close to our guild members. After four years of playing on a daily basis with each other sharing their real life woes and triumphs, marriages, divorces, birth of children, death of parents, cancer, car accidents- you know them as well as your own family if not more.

It came as quite a shock when my husband created a new avatar and began playing Second Life again in July 2009. I would wait for hours and hours for him to log in to WoW to no avail. Our guildies became concerned and I was feeling very lost. What in the hell did Second Life offer him this time? It was soooo boring that first night. He began to change. After 3 long months of arguing, begging, pleading, trying to understand- I quit WoW. It had grown monotonous for me as well grinding for hours. I was stuck in a rut with nothing to show for it but exalted reputations. I called a meeting of the guild members, explained Rikk wasn't coming back. I sold all the items I had, gave everything away and made someone else the leader of the guild.

Rikk had been approached by a female vampire in a noob area a few weeks after he rejoined SL. She asked if he liked vampires. That was that. With his permission she bit him, took his soul and turned him into a vampire. He joined her clan and was immediately smitten with the members. They were all so much fun! So helpful, having events, chatting. Everyone looked so beautiful! It was intoxicating. I couldn't compete with that on WoW. WoW had become work. Rikk soon found out he would need to feed and needed blood based on the Bloodlines game. After much strife in our real life marriage over this nonsense I joined Second Life and became his blood doll in October 2009.  We bought some linden dollars, shopped for some items so I wouldn't look like a complete noob and that was that.  I had the presence of mind to photograph the turning.
