An All Around Awesome Day 12-3-10

As I logged in on Friday morning, I was at my new skybox Keith and Krista had given me the night before.  I began sorting my notices and thinking about how I was going to decorate.  Ravensong IM'd me almost immediately letting me know her fiance, Tarquil, was online finally.  They were ready to get married and could I please see if there was an opening in the event schedule. So the wheels were in motion yet again.  I put on my dress, found my handfasting ceremony and confirmed the time. I told Raven I would be back on later that evening and not to worry.  When I came back Daisy had sent me a wedding HUD to perform the ceremony and wished me luck. Kumani helped to settle my nerves and had me laughing.  Rikk was there to help seat the guests. When one of the groomsmen didn't show, Rikk stepped in.  It was a beautiful ceremony and I felt confident I had done my best.  No one crashed, no one interrupted, no one tripped or teleported onto me as I was on the podium. Rikk and I danced at the reception as I watched my minions, Kumani and Otis dance together.  It was an all around awesome day. :-)

Happy Holidays?

As the stress of the holidays gets more and more prevalent, let's all try to remember the real people behind the avatars out there.  Oftentimes when we log into this virtual world called Second Life we bring our real life stresses with us. We are less tolerant of others.  Or perhaps even we hold certain individuals to a higher standard than others because they hold a certain title. Sometimes a chat group is having a discussion that annoys me to no end.  I close it.  If a person makes me stabby, I mute them. I try to avoid drama at all costs.  Some people are just naturally negative. They don't realize they are sucking the life out of everyone around them or swimming in the pit of their own dispair. It happens. Sometimes clan politics suck. I wish we could all just be.  However, we all play the Bloodlines game and that entails certain business tactics whether we like it or not.  With 300+ active members you are bound to have personality clashes. 

As a Duchess my role is to hear the grievances of clan members if they cannot find resolve with their liege.  I take this seriously.  I try to find compromise.  I also try to do everything I possibly can to lift the energy in the clan.  I attend every event if I am online.  I document it all on the blog.  I challenge myself to find something positive in each person I meet and to tell them.  Those are my personal choices.  Sometimes I fail.  I do the best I can.  No one will ever know what all I do for others and that is okay.  It is when people start making demands of me or treating me as weak because I do so much is wrong.  And I will not tolerate it.  19 days and counting...

Divine Auction and my Outfit of the Day 11-28-10

Satara bought me at the Divine auction and gifted me to Rikk. After the auction I headed back over to Deviance to try my luck.  The lucky chair was set at "?" so I won a Sorceress outfit. It then changed to another "?" and I won a Strawberry fairy set.  Then I took a bite of the lucky cupcake and won a set of wings.  Three freebies in the matter of two minutes!!

Demolition Derby and My Outfit of the Day 11-26-10

After our Devil May Care event, Keith had us all get free Demolition Derby cars tonight and set up a track. KT, DavidMichael, Keith and I had a blast racing around crashing into each other.  DM broke out some car guns which we then blew the shit out of each other and made a huge mess.  I haven't laughed like that in a long time. :-)

Today was packed with events at the clan.  We started off with Lady Luna and DJ Kane holding a Meet and Greet at the landing spot.  He played the gesture he made from my voice and then immediately played the Freya song right after. That was really cool. :-) Later he hosted a birthday party for Luna with a Neko theme that I attended with Kumani.  Wrapping up the evening late night was Ethan's Rez Day party hosted by his wife, HeavenlyAngel and DJ'd by Sun. That event was packed and had some old clan members visit. I loved seeing Arna and dancing with Rikk most of the night.

Dance Animations and Outfit of the Day 11-23-10

Adding to my chim proves to be time consuming.  I have several of them for different purposes.  My all around dance chim for regular events, my naughty dances chim I use only for Rikk, my mermaid chim for the underwater events, my hip hop/popnlock dance chim for other events.  I bought three new dances from Sine Wave, my favorite dance animation store. This outfit was perfect to test them out. :-)

Steve's Rez Day Event was Native American themed.  I had recently purchased this outfit at Ho Wear for their 25L special of the day.  I also bought the shoes the following day for 25L.  Rikk is wearing his Native American outfit as well that I found for him months ago at Bare Rose.  TheGuardianof Carpathia and I tied to win this event. I tipped Serenity and Luna again and gave the rest of the winning to Steve since it was his rez day.   This was also the night that Keith was banned for 24 hours.  Trouble knows how to find him that's for sure.

She recently opened a store of her skins along with Cari's shapes.   I just can't say enough about her. I am honored to call her friend.

Don't Mess With My Line (and the outfit of the day 11-20-10)

The importance of teaching your minions right away cannot be stressed enough.  Recently Ravensong came to help one of my new blood dolls who also happens to be new to the game while she was shopping at Freebie Galaxy.  (Freebie Galaxy is a very popular place for newbies to the game which also makes it a popular hunting ground for vamps).  In this case a bottom feeding scum sucking vampire spammed my blood doll to spike her. When I logged in they were still there and tp'd me in. I asked for the conversation and they gave me the asshole's name. I IM'd him explaining if he would be reported for unsoliciting biting to Bloodlines in not so many nice words. Do NOT fuck with my family. Especially the new members that are just learning. Thankfully I had explained to her not to let anyone else bite her except me at least for two weeks when I first turned her.  This small bit of advice helped her from being a free meal and becoming revenant. Please take care of your people.  As a liege they trust you and look to you for guidance.  They just might be a fantastic hunter one day!

It's funny how an online acquaintance can make such an impact no your life.  Recently I have become good friends with a wonderful group of people.  They attend my classes and support me.  If they send a tp, I go.  Keith in particular has shown me how my way of thinking limits me.  He didn't do this on purpose of course, just by hanging out and talking.  He is reminding me that I am my own person with my own likes and dislikes from long before I had children.  Those things were lost or set aside along the way.  Although I won't join the Gorean Viking sim he participates in, he rekindled the love I have for Viking lore and mythology. (My name is Freya afterall).  I have found confidence again in my capabilities as a liege and my place in the clan.  My line is growing once again and I am excited to help these individuals learn all about the Bloodlines game.

A Sense of Belonging

Well, I'm not the only one.  Time and again the subject comes up.  Do I belong? Does anyone care that I am here? Why should I care about these random strangers online and what they think of me? Regardless of RL background or where people live in the world- they feel the need to belong.  In my own experience I have met some pretty awesome people that I would not have otherwise.  The echoes of my own first days on SL come back time and again. I know what it's like to try to fit in, to belong. I try to make those new friendships whenever I can. It's difficult to not have cliques with a large group of people.  You gravitate towards those that you connect with. I still struggle with a sense of self worth and a sense of belonging even with my long term friendships on the game. If you're feeling this way- know that you're not alone. Even the most bad ass, hard core, strong people I have met deal with this. Keep trying, make yourself available, continue to show up and people will get to know you. Invite them to be on your friends list. They might be having the same issue as you!
